Heat Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

The Heat's lineup is a bit scrambled heading into Friday's game at Charlotte, but the Heat is trying to recover. Luther Head's broken hand means that playing time at the guard spots has been altered. Daequan Cook is once again getting extended minutes, Dwyane Wade is handling backup point guard duties more, which he did right after the All-Star break when his assists totals soared, and Chris Quinn is getting spot duty. The problem, however, is Quinn is considered a defensive liability and Cook's offense has been slumping since the All-Star break. That puts a bigger burden on Wade. "We're ready for it," coach Erik Spoelstra said. "We've been here before. So Daequan will have more of a featured role now and Quinny will be ready to go. Read more...

The Heat's interest in Head is mainly defensive. Starting point guard Mario Chalmers has been battling foul problems recently. Read more...

Heat Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

Guard Dwyane Wade is the backup point guard. At least that's the way things are for now. That means guard Chris Quinn is the third point guard the Heat. It also means more responsibility for Wade. "I talked to Quinny before the (Detroit) game," coach Erik Spoelstra said. "Right now it's just a fluid situation." The problem is when rookie guard Mario Chalmers gets into foul trouble, Quinn is hard-pressed to slow opposing point guards. And Chalmers has been getting into foul trouble a lot recently. "I can't really do anything," said Chalmers, who ranks fifth in steals at 1.91 per game. The more Chalmers gets whistled, the more he loses his aggressiveness. So Spoelstra decided to shift Wade back to the position he played as a rookie. Read more...
